Wow, I knew I missed Pedro, but I'm not sure I realized just how much until I saw him on the mound. No thanks to the defense, but Pedro still managed to pitch 6 solid innings, yielding only 3 runs (2 earned). A few hard hit balls, but for the most part, the defense gave away all 3 runs. Not to mention, Pedro also earned his 3,000th K - a huge milestone for Petey. Congrats!
Great game. 4th straight win. The Mets put their hitting shoes on to get Pedro a win in his debut. Alou continued his sheer dominance of ace Harang by beating him up to the tune of 3-3 with a HR and 3 runs. That's pretty ridiculous. Ownership! David Wright continued his quest for MVP with a solid 3-5 day with a HR. Paulie Lo Duca got robbed 3 times on hard hit balls and then was hit by a pitch...not quite his day. But he was the only starter without a hit and he surely deserved at least 2.
By the way, the Braves beat the Phils and that's a good thing. Mets now hold a 5 game lead in the NL East, coupled with the easiest schedule of the teams.
Man, we got Pedro back! I'm just so excited - and I'm keeping my fingers crossed he can stay healthy...

Actually, Pedro only pitched 5 innings, but it was as good as could be expected. It should be interesting to see how he looks in his next start on Sunday!
ha - oops, thanks for the clarification Alex - i blame the lack of sleep this weekend...
Stefi, I have to hand it to you. You had it 100% right in a column you wrote earlier this year about how the Mets were missing Pedro, in more ways than one. I just posted about this over at My Summer Family; rather than write it out all over again here, check out my comment there, lol.
I just had to come over here and give you props for that! LOL
aww, thanks deb! yea, it's so true though. We all talk about how the team hasn't been the same this year, etc. but no one seems to give them any credit for rising to this level without their ace! i mean, it's easy to forget pedro was such a huge component of the team when he wasn't a factor in the postseason, but the reality was that he was there. Just need to cross your fingers that he stays healthy!
